Hosts Linda Schacht Gage and Bill Schechner led the celebration of the Bay Area’s rich literary community at the Berkeley Public Library Foundation’s 14th Annual Authors Dinner. Over 300 authors and guests gathered in the lobby and historic reading room of Berkeley’s downtown Central Library. For just one night the library was transformed into a beautiful literary salon and fine dining room. This sold out annual event raises vital funds to support the Berkeley Public Library.
The Foundation honored32 authorsand featured a specialty menu in collaboration with author Tanya Holland.Theoriginal table decor was by San Francisco artist Alexis Arnoldand the the larger than life size art installation on the first floor was by Berkeley’s very own Vita Wells.
Another highlight of the evening was the silent auction of one-of-a-kind literary treasures, vacation getaways, and tickets for AfterWORDS, the Foundation’s year-long series of fun and thought-provoking events with leading local authors, artists, and thinkers. A new twist was starting the auction online a few weeks in advance so that everyone, guest or not, could get in on the bidding to support the library.
With sincere thanks to all who purchased tickets, the many in-kind donors, amazing team of volunteers, and of course a very BIG THANK YOU to all our generous sponsors.
Your support made the whole evening possible.
