The Foundation partners with individuals, organizations, foundations, and businesses to raise funds for library innovation and excellence. Sponsorship is an opportunity to demonstrate a commitment to building a first-rate library and to support an essential community service.
In February of every year, the Foundation hosts an annual Authors Dinner which features the role of authors and literature in making our public library system exceptional. Sponsors of this event enjoy a great gala evening at the Berkeley City Club this year only while Central Library is under Foundation-funded renovations.
Over the years, thanks to the authors, sponsors, and donors who support this signature fundraising event, the Foundation has helped build a new wing of Berkeley’s Central library, equip Berkeley’s remarkable tool library, and create four beautiful, award-winning new branch libraries. We also fund expansions for early childhood reading projects, the popular “library on wheels,” and innovations such as Cornerstones of Science, STEM literacy for all ages. Our current efforts focus on essential upgrades to the historic Central library – bringing a new teen room, flexible work and study spaces, technology, and ease-of-use to this bustling hub of our town.
